Often know for Classic Rock and Roll ballads, Kid Rock has actually been know to deviate from his expected sound every once in a while. The track for highlighting today is KR’s emotional sucker punch of a song called “Only God Knows Why” from his album Devil Without Cause, which was released in 1998. The song discusses topics like sometimes things happen whether we want them to or not, and struggling in life is not only common but possible to overcome. Of course with being from the late 90’s this song has to be bizarre in someway, and for this song the strangeness comes from the vocal processing. Simply, the producers (which quite possible includes Kid Rock himself) decided to auto-tune his voice to the point where KR sounds like an advanced robot attempting a human accent. So, trying to take the nature of the work seriously is complicated, but not impossible. It just stinks that a topic so close to people and legitimate is not given the right attention so the message fully resonates with the audience. Take a listen for yourself, and tell us what you think in the comments.

Until next time, Alt Rock On!
