Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets is Coming Out Soon…Please Don’t Suck

This film looks to be one of the most interesting and experimental movies to release this summer. Heck, I wouldn’t be surprised if this film ends up being the winner of multiple Special Effects Awards, given how bright and crisp the environments look. What is strange though is that general audiences have been given very little information on the film. Not just in terms of story details, but the basic structure of the film as a whole. Seriously, have we seen the main character yet? Have we seen the antagonist or any shed of conflict at all? Sure, we can assume that just from the film’s name there is going to be problems because there is no way inhabitants from 1,000 planets would all get along.

Now, I will concede that this may be overcritical or even mean-spirited, but this judgement only comes from a desire for the film to be good. Nowadays, we as an audience are too used to sequels and works being based off something else that already has fans, so when a new face like Valerian shows up  I just want it to success. Of course, for all I know this property could be based off a book or something, but oh well.

Valerian: City of a Thousand Planets is set to release July 21st, and until then I’m gonna hold my breath and hope for the best.

Until Next Time, Alt Rock On!
