The world just got a bit brighter now that the Cruel World festival is back.

The inaugural Los Angeles event, which made headlines with its lineup focusing on the ’80s alternative and indie scene, was originally supposed to take place in May 2020 before getting postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, organizers have announced that Cruel World is set to finally happen in May 2022.

Originally announced headliners Morrissey, Blondie and Bauhaus are set to return, along with Devo, Echo & the Bunnymen, The Psychedelic Furs, Violent Femmes, English Beat, Public Image Ltd., The Damned and Jay Aston’s Gene Loves Jezebel.

In addition to all the bands that played on college radio during the Ronald Reagan administration, the Cruel World lineup also includes a few more modern bands with similar sensibilities, including the AFI-offshoot Blaqk Audio.
