Björk has premiered a new song called “Atopos,” the first preview of her upcoming album, Fossora.
In a tweet, the Icelandic artist describes “Atopos” as a “good intro” and “passport” into the world of Fossora.
“Sonically a heavy bottom-ended bass world,” Björk says of the song’s sound. “We have 6 bass clarinets, punchy sub drilling, nesting and digging us into the ground.”
You can listen to “Atopos” now via digital outlets. An accompanying video, which can only be described as “very Björk,” is streaming now on YouTube.
Fossora will be released September 30. It’s the first Björk album in five years and her 10th studio effort overall.
Meanwhile, you can listen to Björk’s new Sonic Symbolism podcast, in which she details the making of her past nine albums. The first three episodes, which cover 1993’s Debut, 1995’s Post and 1997’s Homogenic, are out now.
