Help the Earth feel not all alone in its time of need alongside Cake.

“The Distance” rockers have announced a reforestation campaign in celebration of this Thursday’s Earth Day and Arbor Day on April 30. The initiative, launched in partnership with the environmental organization One Tree Planted, is raising funds to plant trees in forests devastated by the 2020 West Coast wildfires that hit California, Oregon and Washington State.

“Humans evolved alongside trees,” says frontman John McCrea. “What we are has to do with them, and we eliminate them only at our peril.”

You can donate to have a tree planted in the “Cake forest” now via Cake-Forest.Raisely.com.

While you do that, you can also look forward to a new Cake album. The band is currently working a follow-up record to 2011’s Showroom of Compassion.
