Damon Albarn has shared a new song called “Royal Morning Blue,” a track off his upcoming solo album, The Nearer the Fountain, More Pure the Stream Flows.
The Blur/Gorillaz frontman wrote “Royal Morning Blue” while in Iceland, watching rain turn into snow from his window while sitting at his piano.
“That’s why the song opens with ‘Rain turning into snow,’ because it’s that moment, that feeling,” Albarn says. “In all the darkness that we have experienced, that was such a beautiful, positive thing.”
You can download “Royal Morning Blue” now via digital outlets. An accompanying performance video is streaming now on YouTube.
The Nearer the Fountain, Albarn’s second solo album, is due out November 12. It also includes the previously released songs “Polaris,” “Particles” and the title track.
