Death from Above 1979 is jumping forward two years to 1981 with a cover of “Don’t Stop Believin’.”
The duo put their spin on the Journey classic exclusively for Amazon Music. Your idea of what a DFA 1979 cover of “Don’t Stop Believin'” sounds like is probably correct, as it turns the classic-rock anthem into a noisy dance-punk affair with vocalist Sebastien Grainger singing over chaotic synth and drum riffs.
“We made a kind of witchy version of the song that would make Steve Perry magically join Journey again,” Grainger says.
DFA, meanwhile, released a new album called Is 4 Lovers this past March. It’s the follow-up to 2017’s Outrage! Is Now.
