Michael Fitzpatrick — otherwise known as Fitz from Fitz and the Tantrums — has released his debut solo song.
The track, called “Head Up High,” was written as a message of hope amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Collectively — not as a city, community, country, or even continent — the whole world is carrying the weight of what the global pandemic has meant,” Fitz says. “We’re all experiencing it at the same time. So, the statement rang out, ‘You’ve got to keep your head up.'”
“The message feels so relevant,” he adds. “Life is not a sprint; it’s a marathon. I needed to hear that message and express it in a song to rally everybody to keep their heads above water.”
“Head Up High” is available now via digital outlets. Fitz plans to release his debut solo album in early 2021.
The most recent Fitz and the Tantrums album is 2019’s All the Feels. They also released a live record, Live in Chicago, just this month.
