It’s been a good few weeks for Florence + the Machine fans.
Following the premiere of the single “King” last month, the “Dog Days Are Over” outfit has dropped another new tune, titled “Heaven Is Here.”
“‘Heaven Is Here’ was the first song I wrote in lockdown after an extended period of not being able to get to the studio,” says frontwoman Florence Welch. “I wanted to make something monstrous. And this clamor of joy, fury and grief was the first thing that came out.”
“With dance studios also shut it was my dream to one day create choreography with it,” she adds. “So it’s one of the first pieces of music I have made specifically with contemporary dance in mind.”
That choreography is on full display in the “Heaven Is Here” video, which reflects the song’s percussive sound. You can watch that streaming now on YouTube.
“King” and “Heaven Is Here” follow Florence’s 2021 single “Call Me Cruella,” which was recorded for the Disney film Cruella. The band’s most recent album is 2018’s High as Hope.
