Foo Fighters have broken a Billboard chart record thanks to their latest single, “Waiting on a War.”
The track is the group’s 26th top-10 entry on Billboard‘s Alternative Airplay chart. That gives Dave Grohl and company the most top-10s in the history of that particular ranking, which launched in 1988.
The Foos had previously been tied with Red Hot Chili Peppers for the most Alternative Airplay top-10s with 25, but “Waiting on a War” puts them in sole position of the record.
Meanwhile, “Waiting on a War” has also hit the top 10 on the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart, where the Foos now have 27 songs to achieve that feat. That ties them with Shinedown for second-most in that ranking, which began in 1981.
The leader for most top-10s on Mainstream Rock Airplay is Tom Petty, who collected 28 between his solo material and with the Heartbreakers.
“Waiting on a War” appears on the new Foo Fighters album Medicine at Midnight, which dropped in February. It also includes the lead single “Shame Shame.”
