Tuesday, July 20 marks the fourth anniversary of the death of Chester Bennington. The Linkin Park and, briefly, Stone Temple Pilots frontman died by suicide in 2017.

Talinda Bennington, Chester’s widow, posted a lengthy tribute to the singer, alongside a photo of him grinning with a lettuce leaf on his head. “You always had a way to make us all laugh. You always made everything better. And when you put this lettuce cup on your head to make us laugh because our food was taking forever, you made everything better once again,” she wrote.

“…We miss you every second of every day. You were the best person I have ever known. I see you in our babies every day,” she continues. “Lily is your mini-me, with her looks and beautiful voice. Tyler has your wit, intellect, looks, and the same obsession for trying to figure out space and time.”

“And Lila, she has your heart of gold. When they were newborns, you wrote your hopes and dreams for them,” Talinda writes. “God must have seen what you wrote because they are truly everything you wished for them to be. I know you can see them. I would give anything to have you back so they could see you.”

Stone Temple Pilots, with whom Chester sang from 2013 to 2015, posted a photo of the singer grinning onstage and wrote, “Love you and miss you.”

Finneas tweeted, “4 years. RIP Chester Bennington. Sad forever about this.”

Not coincidentally, today would have been the 57 birthday of Bennington’s friend, Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell, who died by suicide on May 18, 2017.  The band wrote on Instagram, “57 years ago on July 20th, 1964 our co-founder and beloved brother was born. Eternal love, honor, and peace for you, Chris. You are so very missed.”
