While the My Chemical Romance reunion tour’s been postpoend to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, frontman Gerard Way‘s comic book writing career is keeping him busy.
This fall, Way will release the first issue of a new story line in his The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys series, based on the concept of MCR’s last album, 2010’s Danger Days.
According to Alternative Press, the six-part saga, titled The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys: National Anthem, will debut on October 14.
“In 2010, MCR released a concept record, Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys,” Way and co-writer Shaun Simon tell Alt Press. “The record was inspired by a story that only existed in our minds. In 2013, we wrote a comic book series based on that concept record while the original story lay dormant. Now, in 2020, the story that inspired it all will be told: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys: National Anthem.”
In related news, a new card game based on Way’s The Umbrella Academy series is in the works. A Kickstarter to fund the game will launch on July 28.

If all that’s not enough Gerard Way comic book content for you, the musician will be participating in a virtual panel as part of the Comic-Con at Home online convention. You can tune in this Saturday, July 25, at noon PT via Comic-Con.org.
