A whole lot of people said hell yes to the Hella Mega tour.

The triple-headed bill, featuring Green Day, Weezer and Fall Out Boy, had the highest average attendance and gross of each band’s career, Billboard Boxscore reports.

In total, the Hella Mega tour sold 659,000 tickets and grossed $67.3 million over 20 shows spanning from late July through early September. Fall Out Boy missed three dates due to a touring party member testing positive for COVID-19.

On an average per-show basis, the bill played to about 33,000 people while earning around $3.36 million each night.

Given that Hella Mega was a stadium tour, it makes sense that the shows would be the biggest of each band’s career, given none of them had ever headlined their own full U.S. stadium outing before. However, it’s how much bigger the tour was that’s impressive.

As Billboard points out, the per-night attendance average of the Hella Mega tour is twice as much as Green Day’s previous high, and three times more than that of Weezer and Fall Out Boy. Not only that, the figure is still bigger than the combined average attendance of Green Day, Weezer and Fall Out Boy’s biggest tours on their own.

Similarly, Hella Mega’s average per-night gross is still more than double the combined average earnings of each band’s highest-selling tours.

“Three headline sets from three iconic acts. That’s Hella Mega,” says Bob McLynn of Crush Music, which manages Green Day, Weezer and Fall Out Boy. “Each of the bands had to buy into the whole concept in order for this to work, a bit of give and take. The results were there.”

The Hella Mega tour is scheduled to hit Europe in 2022.
