Tonight’s Feature Band:
The PHX New Times recently listed Ruca as “One of the Best Things We Saw” at the 2016 McDowell Mountain Music Festival, stating they are “a band that should play at some point during every festival.”
Since the release of her debut album Flow in 2011 (Produced and Recorded by Jack Howell), Ruca has been honing her live chops at Arizona nightclubs and festivals both with a full band and as a solo acoustic artist, crafting a unique sound dubbed ‘Bluesy Reggae Soul’. 2016 saw the release of Ruca’s follow-up full length, “This Garden”, also recorded and produced by Howell. JAVA Magazine says “This is one of the most feel-good records I’ve heard in a while… Pure listening pleasure for forty-four minutes straight.”
Ruca has played 400+ shows since 2011, including SXSW, Apache Lake Music Festival and the McDowell Mountain Music Festival in 2016. They have toured internationally in Mexico and opened for Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers, Cas Haley, KONGOS and HIRIE. Check out “The Leavin” below:
