Tonight’s Feature Band:
Elephant Gunn had humble roots back in the day as an acoustic group called Drugsound, but had various shifts in members due to all sorts of mishaps. The band eventually shifted into Sol, which focused more on the electric side and heavier songs. After shifting again, Elephant Gunn came to be. It took a while to get their feet off the ground, but after months of practicing and assembling the sonic jigsaw puzzle they got together and finally recorded a 5 track E.P. at Audioconfusion. With songs such as “I Got Time”, and “G.O.M.” the album was a great introduction to Elephant Gunn’s unique multi-generic rock sound. After several shows all over the desert valley the band began work on what would become their second album, Manifest Destin E.P. again at Audioconfusion. This time the band would explore a spacier darker sound in songs like “Raise The Dead”, and “Alien Nation”, while also expanding on their groovy rock sound in other songs. The album proved to be the best work thus far. Shortly after the E.P.s release, however the band was halted due to the departure of one of the founding members. The future looked grim for a while, but the remaining three member are pressing on and the band has now began work on what will be their third album! Check out their song “Birds” below:
