Created in the heart of college town Tempe, Arizona-born rockers Monaghans Dixon, a moniker that combines the last names of two figures in their high school youth, tentatively formed in August 2012 around the core of Max Smith (vocals) and Cody Kellogg (rhythm guitar). The group would be rounded out by the talents of Clayton Birtcher (lead guitar), Andrew Dame (drums), and finally years later, Corey Goldman (bass), who would later depart in 2016. In the same sonic vein and inspiration through acts like Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Wolfmother, Pearl Jam, Highly Suspect, Audioslave, and Soundgarden, they would release their debut EP in January 2014. The band designed themselves to cut through the surface and deliver a true, honest account and fusion of rock n’ roll, alternative rock, blues rock, and modern hard rock with raw, emotive vocals, soaring guitars, and tasteful yet hard-hitting drums. Monaghans Dixon ignite a volatile, energetic live show, know how to get loud, and rapidly spread through nearly every major venue in Arizona within a year, often appearing in lineups presented by 98KUPD Arizona’s Real Rock Radio. In December 2015, Monaghans Dixon entered STEM Recording Studio in Phoenix, Arizona. The resulting debut full-length album Gun Shy Cowboy was released in August 2016 to positive reception.
