After Arctic Monkeys referenced The Strokes on their song “Star Treatment,” Julian Casablancas is returning the favor.

You may recall that “Star Treatment” — the opening track on AM’s latest album, 2018’s Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino — begins with frontman Alex Turner singing the line, “I just wanted to be one of The Strokes.” Turns out, Casablancas feels the same way about Turner’s band.

In an Instagram post over the weekend, Casablancas shared a photo of himself photoshopped over the cover of the 2006 Arctic Monkeys debut album, Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not.

The caption reads, “lolll — I always wanted to be in the Arctic Monkeys.”

In addition to the “Star Treatment” shout-out, Arctic Monkeys also covered The Strokes’ “Is This It” on their Tranquility tour back in 2018.
