Last year, famed tattoo artist Kat Von D announced that she was working on her debut album with help from Dave Grohl. This summer, we’ll find out exactly what that sounds like.
The record, titled Love Made Me Do It, is due out August 27. You can listen to the first single, “Exorcism,” now via digital outlets.
“I wrote ‘Exorcism’ after having had binged on every exorcist movie that ever existed,” Von D says. “I loved the idea of tying the act of being possessed by something outside your control to what love can sometimes feel like; losing yourself in someone else, and sometimes it leaving you black and blue.”
Along with the Foo Fighters frontman, Love Made Me Do It features collaborations with TV on the Radio‘s Dave Sitek, 4 Non Blondes singer Linda Perry, former Nine Inch Nails touring member Danny Lohner, and Peter Murphy of English goth icons Bauhaus.
Grohl and Von D are actually longtime friends, and she’s even responsible for some of his ink. In fact, it appears that their musical collaboration has been in the works for some time — Von D shared an Instagram photo of her working on a song with Grohl and Lohner way back in 2013.
Von D has tattooed a number of other big-name rockers, including the late Motörhead frontman Lemmy and members of Green Day. She also teamed up with Billie Joe Armstrong to create a line of eyeliner.
