Coheed and Cambria has released a cover of the KISS track “Love Gun.”
The acoustic-led rendition turns the chugging riffs of the original into slinky arpeggios under frontman Claudio Sanchez‘s smooth vocals. You can watch a performance video of the cover streaming now on YouTube.
The “Love Gun” cover arrives ahead of Coheed’s upcoming new album, Vaxis II: A Window of the Waking Mind, due out May 27. The follow-up to 2018’s Vaxis I: The Unheavenly Creatures includes the single “Shoulders,” and the tracks “The Liars Club” and “Rise, Naianasha (Cut the Cord).”
To promote the album, Coheed has released a Vaxis II-themed computer game, in which you play as characters from the Vaxis II story, which continues Coheed’s long-running Amory Wars concept.
Coheed will launch a U.S. headlining tour in support of Vaxis II in July.
