Switchfoot has released a new song called “I Need You (To Be Wrong).”

As frontman Jon Foreman explains, he started working on the track “more than a decade ago, during a season of personal friction.”

“Inspired by the tale of Mr. Hyde, asking: Who can I trust? Who am I?” Foreman says. “Years later, the song remained as unfinished as the questions themselves, but it began speaking to us in ways that it never had before. And so we began the process of finishing it.”

“While we began to unpack the song, the song was unpacking us,” he continues. “Maybe our enemy is not ignorance, but the illusion of knowledge.”

You can download “I Need You (To Be Wrong)” now via digital outlets.

“I Need You” follows Switchfoot’s 2019 album, Native Tongue. The group also released a covers EP in 2020.

Switchfoot will be hitting the road this fall on a tour with NEEDTOBREATHE, which kicks off in September. In the meantime, you can watch them perform a streaming concert premiering May 27.
