Tom Morello has released a new song with grandson called “Hold the Line.”

The track, which is featured on the Rage Against the Machine guitarist’s new The Atlas Underground Fire solo album, is not a cover of the Toto song, but rather an original about “everyone going through compassion fatigue or activist burnout.”

As grandson explains, “‘Hold the line’ is a phrase that traces back to trench warfare and has become a union rally cry for anyone experiencing backlash for standing their ground.”

The “Blood//Water” rocker adds, “I have worn my admiration and respect for Tom since I first stepped on a stage and to have contributed to his album is something I and my fans can be proud of forever!”

The Atlas Underground Fire, Morello’s second solo effort under his own name, is out today. It also includes collaborations with Bring Me the Horizon and Phantogram, plus a cover of AC/DC‘s “Highway to Hell” featuring Pearl Jam‘s Eddie Vedder and Bruce Springsteen.
