Forget a “Better Man” — Eddie Vedder was the Best Man at the wedding of Zak Starkey, the 56-year-old son of Beatles legend Ringo Starr.
According to People, the Pearl Jam frontman filled the honorary role alongside ex-Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr during the ceremony, which saw Starkey wed his longtime partner Sharna “Sshh” Liguz. The couple had been together for 18 years before deciding to finally tie the knot this past Monday in West Hollywood, California.
The date of the wedding, March 21, also marked Starkey and Liguz’s daughter Luna‘s first birthday.
As People reports, Vedder attended the nuptials in person, while Marr appeared via video.
In addition to the Beatles connection, Starkey, a drummer like his father, has been a touring member of The Who since the mid-’90s. Vedder, of course, is a Who super-fan.
Starkey also played in Marr’s Healers project, which released one album in 2003.
