Muse and Gorillaz were among the winners at the 2022 MTV Europe Music Awards, which took place Sunday in Düsseldorf, Germany.

Matt Bellamy and company took home the Best Rock prize, beating out Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Måneskin, The Killers and Liam Gallagher, while Damon Albarn‘s virtual band earned Best Alternative over Twenty One Pilots, Panic! at the Disco, Yungblud, Imagine Dragons and Tame Impala.

Both Muse and Gorillaz also performed at the ceremony. In their acceptance speech, Muse dedicated their award to Ukraine and the women protesting in Iran.
