My Chemical Romance members Frank Iero and Mikey Way are sharing their thoughts and remembrances on the one-year anniversary of the band’s epic 2019 reunion concert.
The show, which took place December 20, 2019, at the Shrine Exposition Hall in Los Angeles, marked the beloved band’s return to the stage for the first time since their 2013 breakup. It has since gained even more significance now that MCR’s planned 2020 reunion tour has been postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Iero marked the anniversary with a photo of a tattoo he got to commemorate the date.
“[One] year ago today was the last ‘show’ I played in front of a live audience, and the first show mychem had played in a little over 7 years,” Iero wrote in the Instagram’s caption.
“Throughout 2020 I have been incredibly fortunate to be able to play a few live streams and collaborate remotely with some ridiculously talented individuals,” he added. “But as much fun as that has been, I really can’t wait for it to be safe enough to be able to play real shows again. Take care of one another. Wear a mask, stay safe, and keep the faith.”
Way, meanwhile, shared a photo of his two children sitting on the floor of the empty Shrine.
“Thinking back to a magical night three hundred and sixty five days ago,” he wrote. “Dreaming of the moment when we can do it all again. Until then — stay safe out there.”
The MCR reunion tour is currently scheduled to kick off in the U.K. next June. The U.S. leg is set to launch in September.
