Nathaniel Rateliff has released a new song called “Redemption,” which was recorded for the upcoming film Palmer.
The movie stars Justin Timberlake as a former high school football star who returns to his hometown after serving 12 years in prison.
“When I was first asked to write a song for Palmer I was told what the film was about and where the song was going to be used,” Rateliff says in a statement. “The melody and the opening line came to me immediately. But it wasn’t until I had a conversation with Justin that helped me put the song together.”
“He said the film was about redemption,” the “S.O.B.” rocker recalls. “I saw that in the characters and did my best to add to the scene in the film.”
“Redemption” is available now for digital download. You can also hear it playing the newly released Palmer trailer.
Palmer will premiere on Apple TV+ January 29, 2021.
