A new solo album from Gord Downie, the late frontman of the beloved Canadian alt-rock outfit The Tragically Hip, will be released posthumously on October 16.
The record, titled Away Is Mine, arrives nearly three years to the day Downie passed away in October 2017 after a battle with brain cancer. He was 53.
You can download the songs “Hotel Worth” and “Useless Nights” now via digital outlets.
In a statement about Away Is Mine, the Hip says, “Along with beautiful album artwork created by [Downie’s] daughters, Willo and Clare, the album was a collaborative piece with many other dear friends and family members. Each carefully curated part of this album is a masterpiece.”
Away Is Mine is the second posthumous Downie album to be released. The first one, Introduce Yerself, was first announced in 2017 when Downie was still alive, and ended up being released just 10 days after he passed.
