Chino Moreno‘s Deftones side project Crosses has announced a new song.

The duo, made up of Moreno and guitarist Shaun Lopez, will drop a track called “Initiation/Protection” this Friday, March 18. You can pre-save the song now.

“Initiation/Protection” is the first original new music from Crosses to follow their self-titled debut album, which  dropped in 2014. Since then, they’ve released a number of covers, including a 2021 rendition of the Q Lazzarus track “Goodbye Horses,” aka the Silence of the Lambs song.

Deftones, meanwhile, is preparing to hit the road in April in support of the band’s 2020 album, Ohms. It’ll be their first live run following longtime bassist Sergio Vega‘s departure from the group due to a contract dispute.
