Say your prayers, little one: Weezer has covered “Enter Sandman.”
Rivers Cuomo and company put their spin on the Metallica classic for the upcoming Metallica Blacklist album, a 53-track compilation celebrating the 30th anniversary of the metal legends’ 1991 self-titled release, aka The Black Album.
Weezer’s interpretation of “Enter Sandman” is pretty close to the original, and could probably sit comfortably on the band’s riff-heavy new album, Van Weezer. You can download the cover now via digital outlets.
The Metallica Blacklist will be released September 10. It also includes previously released covers by artists including St. Vincent, Biffy Clyro and Volbeat, as well as the all-star version of “Nothing Else Matters” featuring Miley Cyrus, Metallica’s Robert Trujillo, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, Elton John, guitarist/producer Andrew Watt, and cellist Yo-Yo Ma.
Meanwhile, Metallica has released another preview of the upcoming 30th anniversary deluxe Black Album reissue, which is also due out September 10. The latest cut is a 1992 live version of the track “Through the Never.”
Additionally, you can check out a newly released Blacklist cover of “Through the Never” recorded by R&B artist Tomi Owó.
