Stevie Nicks is turning to the music of HAIM as she mourns the death of her Fleetwood Mac bandmate Christine McVie, who passed away Wednesday morning at age 79 following a “short illness.”

In a social media post Wednesday afternoon, Nicks writes, “A few hours ago I was told that my best friend in the whole world since the first day of 1975 had passed away.”

The “Landslide” singer adds that one particular song “has been swirling around in my head” since learning that McVie was sick last Saturday: HAIM’s “Hallelujah.”

“I thought I might possibly get to sing it to her, and so, I’m singing it to her now,” Nicks writes. “I always knew I would need these words one day.”

“Hallelujah” was originally released in 2019 and is included as a bonus track on HAIM’s 2020 album Women in Music Pt. III. The lyrics include “I had a best friend/But she has come to pass/One I wish I could see now.”
