Switchfoot is releasing a Christmas album for the first time.

The record, aptly titled this is our Christmas album, will arrive November 4, and contains a mix of holiday standards and original tunes that a press release says is influenced by “everyone from the Beach Boys to Black Flag.”

“Christmas is an emotional treasure chest for a songwriter to pull from,” says frontman Jon Foreman.

“It’s a season stretched tight with contradictions: celebrating the free gifts of love and grace with an outburst of materialist capitalist consumption,” Foreman shares. “An emotional roller coaster of family and friends, hopes and scars — bringing out the worst and the best in all of us.”

In support of the record, Switchfoot will embark on the this is our Christmas tour, which runs from November 26 in Knoxville, Tennessee, to December 18 in Mesa, Arizona. Tickets go on sale this Friday, September 9, at noon local time.
