The Lumineers‘ “Brightside” is certainly shining bright atop the Billboard charts.
The lead single and title track off the folk outfit’s upcoming new album has hit number one on the Alternative Airplay ranking. It’s the fifth Lumineers tune to achieve that feat, following “Ho Hey,” “Ophelia,” “Cleopatra” and “Gloria.”
“Brightside” also bests the Alternative Airplay peak of perhaps the most famous song to use that word: The Killers‘ “Mr. Brightside,” which topped out at number three on the chart. “Mr. Brightside,” of course, would go on to become a massive crossover hit, reaching the top-10 on the all-genre Hot 100 in 2004.
The album Brightside, The Lumineers’ fourth studio effort, arrives January 14, 2022. It also includes the previously released songs “A.M. Radio” and “Big Shot.”
