Stop us if you’ve heard this one before: The Offspring is gearing up to release a new album.

Since at least 2017, the “Self Esteem” rockers have been working on their 10th studio effort, the follow-up to 2012’s Days Go By. At various times over the past few years, the band has said that the record would arrive in 2018, 2019, and in a pre-pandemic 2020, only for nothing to materialize

Well, we’re now in 2021, and The Offspring is once again promising the arrival of a new album. But, as frontman Dexter Holland and guitarist Noodles say in an audio message, “it’s real this time.”

“It’s finished, it’s in the can, as they say,” Holland shares. “We’ve got songs, we’ve got titles…we’ve got a label…we’ve got an album title, we’ve got a cover.

And, most importantly, the album has a release date. Unfortunately, we won’t learn that date right away.

“We’re gonna talk about all that stuff, I guess, when the label lets us,” Holland adds.

Stay tuned for that, should the band who cried album actually be right this time.

While we’ve been waiting for the record, The Offspring hasn’t been completely silent. They released a new single in 2015 called “Coming for You,” and just last year, they covered the Tiger King song “Here Kitty Kitty” and Darlene Love‘s holiday classic “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home).”
