The Shins have returned with new music.

James Mercer and company have dropped a fresh single called “The Great Divide.”  The electro-tinged track is available now for digital download, and you can watch its accompanying video streaming now on YouTube.

“It’s an epic about longing and love in a broken world,” Mercer says of “The Great Divide.” “I guess we wanted to try to provide a bit of warmth and sentiment in hard times.”

The Shins also released an alternate, “flipped” version of “The Great Divide,” which is out now exclusively through Amazon Music.

“The Great Divide” follows The Shins’ latest album, 2017’s Heartworms. That record was also accompanied by a “flipped” version, 2018’s The Worm’s Heart.
