Tuesday: Bid For Escape – Fashion and Frowns

Front man, Aaron Lopez in the summer of 2017, originated BID FOR ESCAPE. The 32 year old brushed off the rust from not playing music in over 8yrs and connected with friend and respected local AZ recording engineer George White (of Saddles & Wild Earth). Lopez wrote the EP “Nothing Left to Lose” and recorded it along side White’s producing guidance and the help of Danny Lopez (of Table Top Joe & Cry Night) on Bass. “Nothing Left To Lose” is available on all online music stores such as iTunes, Spotify, Apple Music & Google Play and more…

Once Lopez re-plugged himself in the music scene again he reconnect musically with life long friend and old band mate, of Downcast Fable, Anthony Lee (of Wild Earth). This led to the more recent connection of the very talented guitar player Jacob Ramirez. Since late 2017, Lopez has been playing live shows as Bid For Escape with Lee, Ramirez & D. Lopez. You can catch Bid For Escape live at Peoria Performing Arts Center, Saturday April 27th. Check out Bid for Escape’s song “Fashion and Frowns” below and give ’em a follow on Facebook! If you dig it, vote to hear it again for Song of the Week at the bottom of the page.

Thursday: Bear Ghost – Haunt, The Cartoon Heart

Bear Ghost is a rock band from Phoenix, AZ that fuses intricate musicianship, melodies and song structure to deliver a one of a kind sound. With the release of the band’s first full length album entitled “Blasterpiece“, the Phoenix market took notice.

Bear Ghost quickly became one of the area’s favorite bands and “Blasterpiece” received high critical acclaim, winning the market’s Album Of The Year for 2016 from the Phoenix New Times.

“Blasterpiece” was written and performed by Bear Ghost and recorded by Jeremy Parker at Premier Studios. Parker, a Grammy winning engineer and holder of many other industry awards, also recorded the band’s debut EP entitled “Your Parents Are Only Marginally Disappointed In Your Musical Taste” released in 2014.

Over the years Bear Ghost has enjoyed national recognition through fans discovering the band on Spotify. Both albums combined have gained over 3 million streams, turning people in other markets into fans, building a steady demand for the band to perform beyond it’s local market. Bear Ghost is currently streamed to over 40,000 listeners monthly, a number that is steadily increasing as time proceeds.

Bear Ghost has had the honor of headlining the Apache Lake Music Festival and the Phoenix Zombie Walk, as well taking the stage at McDowell Mountain Music Festival, Viva PHX, Arts Goggle (TX) and opening for headliners like Closure In Moscow, Kongos, Brick + Mortar, Future Castles, Kyle Gass, MC Lars and Mega Ran.

In 2018 the band signed with 80/20 Records, setting in motion the recording and the release of a new single “Haunt, The Cartoon Heart” in 2019, which you can preview below, as well as the band hitting the road for the first time with Okilly Dokilly for an East Coast / Southeast American tour.
