Tuesday: One Minute Millionaires

One Minute Millionaires continues the rich legacy of Arizona-based, guitar-oriented rock, bringing to life the sounds and visions of the American southwest’s unique culture.

Formed in 2004, the band performed throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area and gradually shifted its focus from cover songs to original material, culminating in the 2011 EP release ‘Drunkards and Fools’. Emphasizing melody, thoughtful lyrics, and well-crafted songs, One Minute Millionaires focus on a solid, earthy production, free of modern audio gimmickry. ‘Drunkards and Fools’ was a featured release on European multi-media website makeuseof.com and garnered positive reviews on independent culture websites heartheindie.com and popgeekheaven.com.

2012 was a year of hiatus for the band as a studio remodel, careers, a band membership change, and family took precedence.

2013 found the band back in the studio and saw the release of the single ‘Weary Ride’, which was discovered by Turkish photographer/videographer Engin Eraydin, who requested use of the song in a video he produced for European modeling and fashion conglomerate By-Ayzer of the 34 Bucuk Visual Agency.

2014 started off with ‘Drunkards and Fools’ lead-off track ‘Bottle’ selected by legendary southwest independent music store Zia Records for their regional music compilation CD ‘You Heard Us Back When, Volume 8’; all proceeds were donated to various animal welfare charities.

2015 welcomed the band’s sophomore EP effort, ‘Cold Sun’, which garnered positive reviews on Australian independent music site indiemunity.com, 24ourmusic.net, and long-time favorites popgeekheaven.com. Lead-off track ‘Down’ was selected by the City of Apache Junction for their YouTube Parks and Recreation Department video promotional efforts.

With the arrival of 2016, the band resumed live performances at venues in the Phoenix metropolitan area and released two singles, a unique reinterpretation of the western classic ‘Streets of Laredo’ and a brand new original composition ‘Little White Jacket’; the band also started writing and recording tracks for their third, yet to be named, 5-track EP.

2017 started off with a bang as a One Minute Millionaires’ original track was – once again – selected by Zia Records for inclusion on Volume 11 of their annual ‘You Heard Us Back When’ regional music compilation 2-CD collection; this time it was their newest single ‘Little White Jacket’ making the cut.

2018 found the band back in studio working on new material and their 2016 single ‘Streets of Laredo’ selected for the charity compilation ‘When in Arizona, Volume 2’ in support of Ryan House, a non-profit organization that helps families cope with their children’s life-limiting or end of life journeys.

All One Minute Millionaires’ tracks are available on industry standard sites iTunes, amazon.com, Google Play, the Microsoft Store, Tidal, and CDBaby.com; all tracks are also available for free listening and download on SoundCloud at – Preview their song “Long Gone” below and  give em a follow on Facebook and Twitter. Overplay is a three-piece Pop Rock group from Glendale, Arizona. “Stop Dragging Me Down” is the classic 2000s jam about the girlfriend being taken away by the jock. This is filled with loud and energetic instrumentation to support to the pop rock/punk rock style. The vocals are sending a very hard hitting message to people, saying not to let anything drag them down and to let go of things stopping them from being happy.
