Monday: Wyves – R U OK?

Wyves and decker Van buren

Formed in early 2015, Wyves have been hard at work creating their unique brand of Rock & Roll. Within a few months of gigging they had garnered acclaim from Phoenix New Times and Java Magazine, highly circulated publications in Arizona. Corey Gloden on vocals was recently named “Best Male Vocalist” in Phoenix New Times Best of 2016. “Spoils Of War”, the debut album from Wyves, is 11 tracks of Rock & Roll. It is an album that is both modern and classic in quality and conviction with great hooks and well thought out lyrics. “Spoils Of War” was released in February of 2016 to a Sold Out Crescent Ballroom in Phoenix, Arizona. With constant word of mouth and momentum they have landed sets at McDowell Mountain Music Festival 2016 and Apache Lake Music Festival 2015 and 2016. They have shared the stage in previous projects with acts such as: Guns N’ Roses, Aerosmith, Kid Rock, Cheap Trick, Peter Frampton, Rival Sons and Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros. Between the four of them there has been a lot of knowledge gained and miles traveled. They are ready to use that for Wyves, the culmination of experience and a driving passion to create this music. This band is truly where they want to be and this is the music they want to share. You can catch Wyves at The Van Buren, Friday September 28th for their “R U OK” album release party and on FacebookTwitter and Instagram. Check out their song “R U OK” below, if ya like what you hear, vote for them to receive Song of the Week!

Tuesday: decker. – The Matador

Decker born to wake up photo

In the simplest terms, decker. is a singer/songwriter based in Sedona, Arizona. A more apt description, however, would be to call him a musical mystic. He himself describes his sound as “psychedelic desert folk,” drawing inspiration directly from the vortexes of the red rock mountains and canyons where he resides—an area so widely known for its resounding energy that millions of spiritual travelers flock there every year in an attempt to harness its power. With a handful of self-released recordings to his name that have garnered praise from KEXP, Magnet Magazine and No Depression, decker. signed with revered independent label Royal Potato Family in 2017 to release a 10-song retrospective entitled ‘Into The Red.’ In 2018, he returns with a full-length collection of new material, ‘Born To Wake Up.’ Where previous albums have leaned darker in mood and content, this latest finds him maturing in his artistic viewpoint, offering more optimism and light across a range of songs like “Awake,” “Smudge” and “The Matador.” Glide Magazine recently wrote, “decker. is one of the country’s most criminally underrated songwriters.” With the release of ‘Born To Wake Up,’ that should all be changing. You can catch decker. at The Van Buren on Friday, September 28th for Wyves album release show and on FacebookTwitterInstagramand Youtube. Check out his song “The Matador” below then vote to hear it again for Song of the Week at the bottom of the page.

“Blasterpiece” was written and performed by Bear Ghost and recorded by Jeremy Parker at Premier Studios. Parker, a Grammy winning engineer and holder of many other industry awards, also recorded the band’s debut EP entitled “Your Parents Are Only Marginally Disappointed In Your Musical Taste” released in 2014.
