Toni Cornell will be paying tribute to her father, the late Chris Cornell, during a performance on NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon this Thursday, December 16.

“So excited to perform a special song in honor of my dad on @fallontonight,” Toni writes in an Instagram post.

Toni didn’t reveal what specifically she’ll be singing, though given that her dad’s cover of “Nothing Compares 2 U” was just nominated for a Grammy, perhaps she’ll be performing her own version of the Prince-penned classic. The two Cornells previously recorded a duet version of the song, which Toni released in 2018, a year after Chris’ death.

Chris’ “Nothing Compares 2 U,” which is nominated for Best Rock Performance at the 2022 Grammys, appears on his posthumous covers compilation No One Sings Like You Anymore Vol. 1, the Soundgarden icon’s final, completed album. The record as a whole is nominated for Best Rock Album.

Toni has previously honored her father with a cover of Leonard Cohen‘s “Hallelujah” on ABC’s Good Morning America in 2017. She’s also performed his Temple of the Dog song “Hunger Strike.”
