Tool has earned new platinum certifications for the first time in over 10 years.

According to the RIAA database, the band’s 1993 and 2001 albums Undertow and Lateralus are now triple-Platinum for over three million units certified, while 2006’s 10,000 Days is now double-Platinum.

Prior to those certifications, Tool hadn’t received any new platinum honors since 2008. That may be because Tool’s music wasn’t available on digital platforms when the RIAA started adding on-demand streaming to their certification process for singles in 2013 and albums in 2016. Tool would eventually add their catalog to streaming services in August 2019.

Tool’s digital revolution was announced leading up to the release of the band’s long-awaited new album, Fear Inoculum, which also dropped August 2019.
