Travis Barker is speaking out about his love and appreciation for girlfriend Kourtney Kardashian, whom he credits for helping him overcome his fear of flying.
In a recent interview with Nylon, the Blink-182 drummer admitted he hadn’t set foot on a jet since 2008, when he narrowly survived a plane crash that killed all but one other person on board and left him with third-degree burns over much of his body.
Thirteen years later, Kourtney whisked Barker away on a romantic vacation to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, with the drummer confessing, “I didn’t even know I was going.”
“I made a deal with her that she had just said to me, ‘I would love to do so much traveling with you. I want to go to Italy with you. I want to go to Cabo with you. I want to go to Paris with you. I want to go to Bora Bora with you,” he explained. “And I said, ‘Well, when the day comes you want to fly, I’m telling you I’ll do it with you. I would do anything with you. And just give me 24 hours’ notice.’ And that’s what she did.”
Flying after over a decade was an experience for Barker, who says once the wheels were off the ground, the flight was “the easiest ever.”
“It’s still something very new to me, but having something that gives me the strength and hope to be able to overcome things that were so traumatic in my life, it just says a ton,” the drummer continued. “I’m invincible when I’m with her. It’s like I never dreamed, I never even considered flying again.”
Barker hinted he’s already planning on jetting off to more locations, but kept the destinations to himself.
