Twenty One Pilots‘ new album Scaled and Icy isn’t even out yet, but frontman Tyler Joseph is already working on more material.
Speaking to Kerrang!, Joseph shares that he continued to write new songs after finishing up Scaled and Icy.
“Usually when we’re done working on a record I feel completely burnt out; I’ve put everything into it that I have, and I’m done with writing, done with music, for however long,” Joseph explains. “On this one, for some reason — maybe it’s because I know that we’re not going to go out and play shows — after finishing it, I didn’t feel that same burnt-out feeling.”
“I’ve actually continued to create, even after,” he adds. “I’m still writing and excited about music. I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing…hopefully it’s just a good thing!”
We’re going to go out on a limb here and guess that Twenty One Pilots fans agree that it is, indeed, a good thing.
Scaled and Icy is due out May 21. It features the chart-topping single “Shy Away.”
