A previously unreleased collaboration between Nine Inch Nails‘ Trent Reznor and film composer Danny Elfman is included in the upcoming deluxe collector’s edition of the latter’s album Big Mess.
The box set, which is due out in February 2022, includes a new version of the Big Mess song “Native Intelligence,” with vocals by Reznor.
You’ll also find a collaboration with FEVER 333 on the song “Kick Me.”

Reznor and Elfman previously linked up for a duet for another Big Mess tune, title “True.” That was released this past August.
We can only assume that the recording sessions between Reznor and Elfman included a lot of movie talk, since they’re both Oscar-nominated film composers. However, Reznor has Elfman beat when it comes to wins — Trent’s won two with his scoring partner and NIN band mate Atticus Ross, for The Social Network and Soul, while Danny’s been nominated four times but has yet to go home with a trophy.
