A new clip from the upcoming Dave Grohl-directed documentary What Drives Us has premiered via RollingStone.com.
The snippet includes artists such as Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich, St. Vincent, AC/DC‘s Brian Johnson and U2‘s The Edge speaking on the power of live music.
“There’s only one reason you do that s***,” Flea says. “‘Cause you f***ing love it.”
Grohl What Drives Us as his “love letter to every musician that has ever jumped in an old van with their friends and left it all behind for the simple reward of playing music.” The film also features The Beatles‘ Ringo Starr, Slash and Duff McKagan of Guns N’ Roses, Aerosmith‘s Steven Tyler and No Doubt‘s Tony Kanal, among many others.
What Drives Us will premiere April 30 as part of The Coda Collection, a new music-focused subscription streaming channel on Amazon Prime Video.
You can also look forward to the Grohl-directed show From Cradle to Stage, based on the book written by his mom, Virginia Hanlon Grohl. The six-part series will find the two Grohls interviewing other famous musicians and their mothers, including Imagine Dragons‘ Dan Reynolds, Rage Against the Machine‘s Tom Morello, Rush‘s Geddy Lee, Pharrell Williams, Brandi Carlile, and Miranda Lambert.
From Cradle to Stage premieres May 6 on Paramount+.
