With traditional concerts still mostly on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic, bands have had to get creative about how to present live music. With their latest project, Kaleo may now be the one to beat.

The Icelandic rockers have shared a new performance video for their song “Break My Baby,” filmed atop an 80-year-old lighthouse in their native country.

“It’s a privilege to be able to play at this rare location so few have visited,” says frontman JJ Julius Son. “We have wanted to do this for quite some time, but it requires the perfect weather conditions for safety, and we finally had the time needed back in our home country given the circumstances during the pandemic.”

“It should speak so loudly being shot in one of the most isolated places in the world in the middle of a pandemic,” he adds.

You can watch the performance streaming now on YouTube. The recording is also available for digital download.

“Break My Baby” is a track off Kaleo’s upcoming album, Surface Sounds, the follow-up to their 2016 breakout record A/B, which spawned the singles “Way Down We Go,” “No Good” and “All the Pretty Girls.”

Surface Sounds was originally supposed to drop in 2020, but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s currently scheduled to arrive on April 23.
