This year officially marks two decades of Yeah Yeah Yeahs, the indie trio formed in New York City in 2000. To celebrate their 20th anniversary, Karen O and company united virtually to deliver a quarantined performance of their classic single, “Maps.”
The video features O wearing properly festive attire while surrounded by balloons and two screens featuring guitarist Nick Zinner and drummer Brian Chase playing along with her. “Let me tell you something, COVID-19,” O declared as the song ramped up. “You cannot break these chains of love!”
You can watch the performance streaming now via O’s Instagram page.
As part of the 20th anniversary celebration, Yeah Yeah Yeahs also recently shared a throwback video from their first-ever show, which took place September 24, 2000 at the Mercury Lounge in New York City. You can watch their debut performance of “Our Time” streaming now on YouTube.
