Weezer‘s 2021 includes the release of two new albums, and they plan to double that for their next project.

During an interview with Strombo on Apple Music Hits, frontman Rivers Cuomo revealed his intention to work on a “four-album set, where each album is corresponds to one of the four seasons.”

“Then each album has a very different vibe and lyrical theme,” he explained.

For example, the “spring” album would be filled with “lighthearted, breezy” songs, while the “fall” record might consist of Franz Ferdinand-inspired dance rock. The winter album, Cuomo added, would “include lots of loss and despair and [be] kind of quiet,” akin to the late singer-songwriter Elliott Smith.

“There’s always new things you can try,” Cuomo said.

Weezer just released a new, orchestral album called OK Human last Friday. Its guitar-driven counterpart, Van Weezer, is due out May 7.
