Though Fall Out Boy couldn’t join Green Day and Weezer at Wednesday’s Hella Mega tour stop in New York City, their music still rang out in Citi Field.

During Weezer’s set, frontman Rivers Cuomo performed a solo rendition of “Sugar, We’re Goin Down” in honor of the Chicago rockers, who dropped off the show after a member of the band’s team tested positive for COVID-19.

Cuomo’s performance included a heartwarming crowd singalong during the chorus, as well as an ironic flubbing of the “Isn’t it messed up” line. You can watch fan-shot footage of the cover streaming now on YouTube.

In addition to Cuomo’s tribute, The Interrupters also performed a snippet of “Sugar” during their opening set.

Fall Out Boy will also miss Thursday’s Hella Mega show in Boston. They’re expected to return to the bill for this Sunday’s date in Washington, D.C.
